JTI is seeking a Credit and Collections Manager to provide strategic oversight of credit management and collection activities across its nationwide sales network. Reporting to the Finance Director, the successful candidate will lead the Order-to-Cash (O2C) process, strengthen credit controls, monitor branch performance, and drive continuous improvements in financial operations while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Oversee customer master data management, due diligence processes, documentation, KYC certification, account setup, customer amendments, and PFC exceptions
- Ensure accurate customer records and appropriate credit risk assessment procedures
- Manage customer credit limits in accordance with approved country policies, procedures, and risk profiles
- Secure necessary approvals for credit allocations and strengthen accounts receivable security coverage
- Prepare and deliver meaningful KPI reports and management reports on credit performance
- Monitor collections, customer deposits, receivables aging, overdue accounts, and escalation processes
- Oversee route settlements, reconciliations, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Coordinate recovery efforts with legal teams and external debt collection agencies when required
- Optimize TME system controls and leverage analytics and AI-driven tools to identify anomalies and improve controls
- Drive process automation and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce manual reporting activities
- Maintain and communicate credit management and branch accounting policies across the organization
- Ensure timely execution and compliance with O2C JSOX controls
- Establish effective governance structures, escalation procedures, and risk management protocols
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Sales, Branch, GBS, and Headquarters teams to support operational objectives
- Lead, mentor, develop, and motivate direct and indirect team members
- Promote segregation of duties, policy awareness, accountability, and compliance across all branch locations
- Conduct branch visits and provide support to geographically dispersed teams as required
Qualifications Required
- University degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or a related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification is mandatory
- Minimum of five (5) years of managerial experience within FMCG, banking, or a related sector
- Proven experience leading, developing, and managing large teams
- Strong understanding of credit management, collections, receivables, and financial controls
- Experience with Order-to-Cash (O2C) processes and credit risk management
- Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks, governance, and internal controls
- Ability to leverage technology, analytics, and automation tools to improve processes
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Fluency in both English and Swahili
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct
- Strong compliance-oriented mindset and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to drive organizational change and continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate remote teams
General Conditions
- Full-time position based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
- Reports directly to the Finance Director
- Responsible for supporting nationwide sales operations across 16 branch locations
- Regular travel to branch offices may be required
- Position requires strong leadership, governance, and compliance management capabilities
