Background

UBA Tanzania is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Credit Administration & Monitoring Officer to support the effective administration, monitoring, and control of the Bank’s credit portfolio. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with internal credit policies, group guidelines, and regulatory requirements while maintaining sound credit controls that safeguard the Bank’s financial strength and reputation.

The successful candidate will oversee credit administration processes from loan approval through disbursement and post-disbursement monitoring. The position plays a critical role in managing credit documentation, collateral administration, portfolio monitoring, regulatory reporting, and risk classification activities while providing operational support to the Credit and Risk Management function.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end credit administration and back-office operations before and after loan disbursement.
  • Review approved credit facilities and ensure all approval conditions are fulfilled before disbursement.
  • Verify completion of all pre-disbursement requirements, including fees, charges, insurance, and supporting documentation.
  • Confirm execution of offer letters and facility agreements by customers prior to activation.
  • Ensure proper execution, perfection, registration, and safe custody of security documents.
  • Prepare Credit Availment Tickets (CAT) and ensure accuracy of facility booking information.
  • Support facility booking, disbursement, and post-disbursement administration processes.
  • Analyze credit portfolio data and prepare management information reports.
  • Monitor arrears, overdrafts, excesses, and watch-list accounts, recommending corrective actions where necessary.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory, Board, and management credit reports within established timelines.
  • Monitor insurance coverage for all secured facilities and ensure continuous validity of policies.
  • Enforce compliance with approved credit covenants and facility conditions.
  • Escalate any adverse developments or covenant breaches to management.
  • Coordinate valuation processes for collateral assets using approved valuers.
  • Monitor property, equipment, inventory, and other collateral valuations in line with policy requirements.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly risk classification exercises in accordance with regulatory and IFRS 9 requirements.
  • Reconcile risk classifications with Finance and Remedial Management teams.
  • Manage general ledger reconciliations, including provisions and interest suspense accounts.
  • Monitor overdraft facilities and ensure timely reviews and renewals before expiry.
  • Track settlement of temporary overdrafts, excess approvals, and outstanding exceptions.
  • Respond to credit-related inquiries from branches and customers.
  • Coordinate collateral inspections and maintain site visit reports.
  • Maintain complete and updated credit files and documentation records.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to credit reference bureaus and data banks.
  • Maintain tracking systems for insurance renewals, facility expiries, limits, and documentation requirements.
  • Support internal and external audit processes and ensure satisfactory audit outcomes.
  • Assist with loan recovery activities and remedial management coordination.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Law, Economics, Banking, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of banking experience.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in Credit Administration, Credit Operations, or Credit Risk Management.
  • Strong knowledge of banking products, lending processes, and credit administration practices.
  • Good understanding of credit risk management frameworks and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of loan documentation, collateral perfection, and security management processes.
  • Familiarity with Central Bank regulations and prudential guidelines.
  • Understanding of IFRS 9 impairment and risk classification requirements.
  • Strong analytical and financial reporting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in banking systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure.
