Background

SAIL is a leading fund manager in the region with a strong track record in service delivery and performance. They are seeking an individual to lead the local team and manage the Tanzania branch’s operations.

Key Role & Responsibilities

  • The Country Representative will report to the Chief Executive Officer and be primarily responsible for driving profitability growth through business development activities, managing the local team, and building the SanlamAllianz Investments brand.
  • Growth Strategy & Implementation: Proactively develop and implement growth strategies for the Tanzania branch aligned with SAIL’s objective to drive profitability growth.
  • Business Development: Drive growth of the unit trust business. Actively develop institutional investment mandates by building partnerships across institutional, corporate, and retail segments.
  • Stakeholder Management: Continuously build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including regulators, clients, business leaders, partners, and counterparties.
  • Brand & Visibility: Strengthen brand visibility and credibility within the Tanzanian financial market.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular performance reports and strategy updates to clients.
  • Team Leadership: Manage the Tanzania team and champion a high-performance, ethical, and client service culture.
  • Compliance & Risk: Maintain adherence to investment and business development guidelines, compliance, internal risk and compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Other Duties: Any other responsibilities as documented in annual performance objectives or as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience: 4 – 10 years’ experience in business development and management in the financial sector (banking, insurance, financial services, investments, etc.).
  • Knowledge: Good understanding of financial markets in Tanzania and the broader East African region.
  • Advantage: Relevant professional qualification in a business-related field.
  • Advantage: An extensive local network and an investment background.
