Background

Perseus Mining (Tanzania) Limited (SMLC) is seeking a Coordinator LV Maintenance.

Responsibilities

The Coordinator LV Maintenance is responsible to Step-Up as required to cover for the Superintendent LV Maintenance for the management of site maintenance activities and personnel. The areas of responsibility include the LV, Ancillary, HME, Stationary Equipment and Power Station Engines equipment. This position requires to assist in the management of all maintenance personnel, systems and equipment to achieve high levels of equipment availability and equipment integrity in a safe and cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities

Management of Safety, Environment, & Community Relations

• Review employment and working conditions to ensure legal compliance
• Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding safety, environment, health and community.
• Lead site initiatives to improve the understanding of equipment safety
• Take responsibility for ensuring that safety standards with respect to equipment and installations are maintained across relevant areas of responsibility
• Ensure site maintenance activities are compliant with Perseus OHS&E and community relations policies and procedures
• Ensure maintenance personnel are aware of their HSE responsibilities and hold them accountable through the site management and disciplinary process
• Understand the Mining Regulations with respect to engineering and safety requirements
• Actively participate in relevant Incident investigations
• Be aware of the sensitivity of relations with the community and how employment issues can affect relationships with the local community

People Management

• Step-Up as required to manage and lead the LV Maintenance team performance, ensuring quality outcomes and procedural adherence
• Lead by example whilst maintaining the ability to work under intense pressure, upholding team principles and providing positive direction
• Provide personnel coaching, succession planning and conflict resolution as required
• Assist with the development and implementation of a formal training and assessment program for maintenance personnel
• Step-Up as required to manage the performance of direct reports through training, coaching, consistent performance feedback, annual appraisals and recognition to help facilitate their professional development and improve the operating efficiencies of production personnel

Operations

• Step-Up as required to plan, lead and control all site maintenance activities
• Step-Up as required to manage and supervise as necessary to ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in an efficient, safe and timely manner
• Step-Up as required to manage the induction and training of engineering personnel
• Participate to develop and implement Safe Work Procedures for Maintenance activities
• Step-Up as required for LV, Ancillary, HME, Stationary Equipment and Power Station Engines equipment Availability and Downtime compliance and maintenance KPI reporting
• Step-Up as required for the management of maintenance assets through the Pronto Maintenance Management System
• Value add by leading with reliability identification and improvement methods
• Attend relevant business meetings as directed by the Maintenance Manager to understand proactive long-term operational priorities and build forecast equipment down time business models
• Continually search for methods to improve existing maintenance practices that fit within the business model and targets
• Participate to develop a maintenance management system focused on measurement of incremental continuous improvement. Maintain the continuous improvement project development program
• Assist with the management and development of operational budgets and forecasts
• Completion, processing and management of direct personnel documentation, leave entitlements and training programs.
• Any other duties as requested

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Minimum of 12 years’ experience in LV, Ancillary, HME, Stationary Equipment and Power Station Engines equipment mechanical maintenance in mining operations
• Minimum 7 years supervisory experience (with at least 5 years at a senior level)
• Must have strong abilities to lead and manage individuals and teams
• A proactive approach to fleet maintenance and a driver of best practice regimes and data recording.
• Experience with long term maintenance planning, shutdowns, project works and overhaul events.
• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems .
• Experience with spare parts inventory management .
• Strong communication skills at various organizational levels.
• Formal reporting abilities, including routine maintenance reports, KPI’s and technical presentations.
• Ability to prepare and manage the maintenance department budget.
• Good English language skills.

Desired

• Experience with using Pronto.
• Good computer literacy with the ability to effectively use the Microsoft Office suite programs.
• Power station experience.

Certifications and Licenses:

• Trade qualifications from an internationally regarded institution, mechanical trade preferred.
• International driving license.
• Recognized Tertiary Engineering qualification or equivalent (desired).
• Supervisory qualifications i.e., Frontline management (desired).
