Responsibilities or duties

• Lead the design, configuration, testing, and commissioning of control and protection systems.
• Prepare protection philosophies, relay settings, and coordination studies.
• Supervise the installation and commissioning of substations, protection panels, and SCADA interfaces.
• Investigate system faults and analyze disturbance records to improve system reliability.
• Review and approve technical designs, relay settings, and commissioning reports.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, utility standards, and project specifications.
• Provide technical leadership and coordinate with SCADA, telecommunications, and commissioning teams.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

• Expertise in HV/MV substation control and protection systems.
• Proficiency in protection relays, relay coordination, and power system analysis software.
• Strong knowledge of IEC 61850, SCADA integration, and substation automation systems.
• Strong project management and technical supervision skills.
• Sound understanding of testing, commissioning, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.

Experience needed

• Minimum 10 years of experience in control, protection, testing, and commissioning of electrical power systems.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university (Master's degree is an added advantage).
• Must be a Registered Professional Engineer with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) and hold a valid practicing license.
