The Community Engagement Officer builds, activates, and sustains a high-performance innovation community. The role ensures that entrepreneurs, startups, partners, mentors, and ecosystem actors are continuously engaged through structured programming, communication systems, and relationship management. The position converts passive membership into measurable participation, collaboration, and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Community Development & Management
- Design and execute a structured community engagement strategy aligned with the hub’s mission.
- Recruit and onboard startups, innovators, and ecosystem members.
- Maintain active communication channels (physical and digital communities).
- Track community growth, participation, and engagement metrics.
- Ensure high member satisfaction and retention.
- Oversee the management of the IIH space and usage to ensure membership growth and satisfaction.
Events & Programming
- Plan and coordinate regular community events (meetups, demo days, workshops, hackathons, info sessions) atleast once a month.
- Support innovation programs, incubators, and accelerators through participant coordination & communications.
- Manage event logistics, attendance tracking, reporting and overall hospitality.
- Facilitate networking opportunities between startups, mentors, and investors.
Partnerships & Ecosystem Building
- Identify and engage ecosystem partners, including universities, corporates, NGOs, investors, LGA and central government institutions through community outreaches
- Support collaboration initiatives and joint events.
- Represent the hub at ecosystem forums and external events.
- Maintain stakeholder relationship database.
Communications & Outreach
- Develop engaging content for email newsletter, websites and other channels for communication.
- Manage and develop engaging content for social media with consistency at least thrice a week.
- Coordinate with the team on approval processes, especially public facing content.
- Timely response to inquiries and manage community feedback loops.
- Promote hub programs and opportunities to target audiences.
- Public relations, marketing, and crisis management
- Document success stories and impact reporting
- Manage online and offline presence, including mentions, comments, and calls.
- Proactively respond to queries and manage crises before they happen.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Maintain an updated member database and CRM.
- Produce monthly engagement reports (membership growth, event attendance, partnership activities, and social media growth).
- Collect and analyze community feedback for continuous improvement.
Brand Management and Public Relations
- Lead the management and protection of the organization’s brand identity by ensuring consistent adherence to IIH brand guidelines across all internal and external communications.
- Safeguard and strengthen IIH’s public image by proactively monitoring brand perception, identifying potential reputational risks, and responding promptly and professionally to mitigate any image-related concerns.
- Develop, standardize, and maintain internal and external communication materials and templates in alignment with IIH branding standards to ensure consistency, professionalism, and clarity across all touchpoints.
- Oversee the design, production, and dissemination of branded materials, including brochures, flyers, reports, digital content, and promotional assets to support ongoing visibility, marketing, and stakeholder engagement efforts.

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, Community Development, or related field.
- 2–4 years’ experience in community management, innovation ecosystem, youth engagement, or similar role.
- Experience organizing events and managing stakeholder relationships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with startup ecosystems and innovation programs is an advantage.
