Cleaner

Job Summary:

To maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene within the hospital facility to prevent the spread of infection and ensure a safe environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Clean and disinfect wards, waiting areas, corridors, and administrative offices.
  • Empty waste bins and segregate medical waste (Infectious vs. Non-infectious) according to policy.
  • Sweep, mop, and polish floors using appropriate cleaning agents.
  • Clean windows, walls, and ceilings as per the cleaning schedule.
  • Ensure restrooms/toilets are properly sanitized and stocked with supplies.
  • Restock linen and towels in wards and clinics.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures for cleaning spills, especially bodily fluids (using PPE).
  • Maintain the cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas (if applicable).
  • Report any maintenance issues (leaks, broken furniture) to the supervisor.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Minimum Primary/Secondary Education (ability to read and understand safety labels).
  • Training: Training in Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) is an asset.
  • Experience: Previous cleaning experience, preferably in a health facility.
  • Skills: Reliability, hygiene consciousness, physical strength.

Nyuma ya Chuo cha Kiislamu (MUM), Morogoro, Tanzania.
