Responsibilities or duties

  • Maintenance Planning: Undertakes effectively the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programmes on cathodic protection equipment in order to ensure their working order.
  • Installations and Modifications: Undertakes timely installations and commissioning of new Cathodic Protection Systems and modifications of existing ones in order to facilitate their continuity of operations.
  • Repairs: Supervises and undertakes promptly, repairs of breakdowns on cathodic protection installations in order to prevent disruptions of operations.
  • Requisition of Materials: Supervises and undertakes periodically the requisition of spares and inputs in order to meet sectional requirements.
  • Sectional Budgeting: Undertakes efficiently forecasting of requirements, scheduling expenses and creating budgets in order to facilitate resource mobilization.
  • Quality Control: Checks and ensures regularly that all works done at workshops and field conform to appropriate engineering standards in order to ensure their quality and durability.
  • Maintenance of safety: Ensures that safety gear and equipment are available and safety regulations are followed at all working sites in order to facilitate the well-being of employees/staff.
  • Performance Management: Undertakes the implementation of performance management systems in order monitor and evaluate performance and develop remedial measures.

Qualifications or requirements

  • Form VI Certificate
  • BSc in Metallurgy
  • Member of the Engineers Registration Board (ERB)
  • Computer literate
  • Able to communicate in English and Swahili
  • Able to write technical and analytical reports
  • Strong supervisory and team working skills
  • Excellent critical thinking and computation skills
  • Creative problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Computer Aided Design skills
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written in English and Swahili

Experience needed

Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience
