Purpose of role
The Business Performance Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the Finance Director to advance SBL’s strategic plan. This position involves partnering in an agile, integrated, and customer-focused manner with department heads to sustainably grow value. The role holder is responsible for driving rigorous planning and reporting processes that ensure the achievement of business financial objectives.
In addition, the Business Performance Manager will generate valuable insights that inspire proactive intervention initiatives, aimed at achieving both short-term and long-term business targets within a dynamic and evolving environment. By encouraging collaboration across diverse teams, this role contributes to crafting an inclusive atmosphere where varied perspectives are valued and leveraged for innovative solutions.
Top accountabilities
Business Performance Leadership & Strategic Insight
- Drive the team
- Lead business performance analysis and reporting to senior leadership (MD, FD), Board, shareholders, press, and investment analysts.
Planning & Performance Management
- Coordinate the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and oversee performance management milestones (weekly, monthly, quarterly) within Group Finance.
- Ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of all submissions.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Business Partnering
- Act as a finance business partner to all cost center owners.
- Collaborate with executives and cross-functional teams to track strategic actions and deliver desired outcomes.
- Act as SBL key point of interface with EABL and Diageo central reporting teams.
Governance, Reporting & Automation
- Maintain agile reporting files and lead automation initiatives for business performance reporting.
- Record and follow up on resolutions from performance meetings.
Cross-Functional Engagement & Ad-Hoc Support
- Manage key relationships with the Financial Controllership and FP&A teams to ensure effective BPM support to in-market teams.
- Undertake ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the Group BPM Manager or Head of Finance.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- Postgraduate qualification (CPA, ACCA, MBA) is an added advantage.
- Strong computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project)
Experience
- Min 6 years in a finance role, preferably in FMCG or beverages sector.
- Proven success in financial analysis, planning, and business partnering.
- Experience managing external agencies/partners is a plus.
