Background

The Business Development Manager – Private Schemes drives the growth, profitability, and sustainability of the Private Schemes portfolio by acquiring new scheme companies, deepening existing relationships, and delivering tailored payroll, lending, deposit, and related financial solutions. The role is responsible for scheme acquisition, sales performance management, portfolio quality, risk control, analytics-driven decision-making, and superior client experience while representing the bank within Private Scheme ecosystems.

Roles & Responsibilities

A. Business Development, Sales & Revenue Growth

  • Acquire and onboard new Private Scheme companies to grow payroll accounts, loans, deposits, and non-funded income.
  • Increase scheme penetration and product holding among employees within existing schemes to maximize portfolio contribution.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies across customer segments, product channels, and geographic markets.
  • Build, manage, and monitor a robust sales pipeline to ensure consistent monthly, quarterly, and annual performance.
  • Manage acquisition costs within approved budgets while optimizing portfolio profitability.

B. Relationship Management & Client Engagement

  • Build and manage strong relationships with Private Scheme sponsors, HR teams, and key decision-makers.
  • Conduct frequent visits to Scheme companies to deepen relationships and identify growth opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with Corporate Relationship Managers to optimize channel mix and cross-sell to existing corporate clients.
  • Participate in high-value sales calls and negotiations for large prospective scheme and corporate accounts.

C. Sales Performance, Leadership & Team Management

  • Develop, coach, and manage Relationship Managers and Sales Officers operating through telesales, direct sales, roadshows, and field sales.
  • Set weekly, monthly, seasonal, and annual sales targets and track performance against agreed KPIs.
  • Motivate, inspire, and drive branch-level sales teams to achieve and exceed planned sales activities.
  • Build a high-performance sales organization aligned to key performance drivers and ethical standards.

D. Credit, Risk & Portfolio Management

  • Work closely with Credit and Collections teams to ensure sound credit assessment, quality sourcing, and strong repayment performance.
  • Manage operational, credit, and reputational risks associated with scheme sales activities, infrastructure, and processes.
  • Ensure portfolio performance remains within acceptable risk and NPL thresholds through proactive monitoring and intervention.
  • Ensure full compliance with Group policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.

E. Analytics, Performance Monitoring & Strategy

  • Utilize analytics tools and collaborate with analytics teams to conduct detailed sales and portfolio performance analysis.
  • Prepare regular performance reports highlighting successes, weaknesses, risks, and growth opportunities.
  • Use data-driven insights to refine sales strategies, product mix, and productivity improvements.

F. Deposit Mobilization & Product Penetration

  • Drive growth of payroll accounts, savings, and term deposits within scheme companies.
  • Improve product mix by increasing uptake of loans, transactional products, and other retail solutions.
  • Ensure active account usage and funding to support portfolio quality and profitability
