Business Development Advisor will play a key role in executing organization's programs by providing tailored business advisory services, coaching, and training to Entrepreneurs. This position will focus on strengthening entrepreneurs' business acumen, investment readiness and marketing strategies to drive their success and long-term sustainability.
Responsibilities
Business Advisory & Training
- Deliver high-quality business development support to SMEs through training, coaching, mentorship, and capacity-building sessions.
- Conduct in-depth business assessments and develop strategic action plans for SMEs.
- Design and lead training sessions on key business areas such as financial management, marketing, operations, business strategy and business compliance
- Provide one-on-one advisory support to entrepreneurs to improve their business models and growth strategies.
Program Execution & Support
- Work closely with the Head of Programs to implement and refine organization's business development programs.
- Supervise program execution, ensuring efficient delivery of services and adherence to strategic goals.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of interventions, ensuring continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Support the design and facilitation of accelerator programs and workshops.
- Ensure that program goals align with organization’s mission and strategic objectives.
Access to Capital & Market Linkages
- Assist SMEs in preparing for investment readiness, including financial modeling and pitching.
- Facilitate linkages between entrepreneurs and financial institutions, investors, and potential partners.
- Identify opportunities for business growth through market expansion and strategic partnerships.
Stakeholder Engagement & Ecosystem Building
- Represent organization Entrepreneurs in networking events, forums, and partnership meetings.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including government bodies, financial institutions, and other entrepreneurial support organizations.
- Foster a strong entrepreneurial community by connecting SMEs with relevant resources and networks.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Track entrepreneurs’ progress and provide periodic reports on program impact.
- Maintain accurate records of advisory sessions, training workshops, and entrepreneur performance.
- Recommend improvements to strengthen program effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting, Investment, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master’s degree and professional qualifications will be an added advantage
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business advisory, entrepreneurship development, management consulting, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of SME development, financial management, and investment readiness.
- Experience working with startups, accelerators, or business incubation programs is a plus.
- Ability to design and facilitate training sessions effectively.
- Passion for entrepreneurship and a commitment to supporting SMEs in Tanzania.

Interpersonal Skills. Good Analytical Skills Communication Skills
A degree in Finance, Microfinance, Accounting, Investment, Business, Economics, or a related field At least 7 years of experience in deal sourcing, fund management, credit/loan management, or financial management Fluency in both English and Swahili (spoken and written) Experience in organizing investment data rooms, including the preparation of financial models Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage local and international stakeholders Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and team management skills
