Job Summary:

To assist in the collection, processing, and analysis of laboratory samples to aid in diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collect blood, urine, stool, and other specimens from patients.
  • Receive and sort laboratory samples, ensuring proper labeling.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests (Hematology: CBC, Biochemistry: RBS, Serology: HIV/COVID, Parasitology: Malaria microscopy, Urinalysis).
  • Prepare cultures and specimens for microbiological analysis.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment (e.g., centrifuges, microscopes, analyzers).
  • Prepare reagents and stains required for daily work.
  • Record test results accurately and communicate critical results to clinicians.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and sterilization of laboratory glassware and surfaces.
  • Manage laboratory waste (sharps, infectious waste) safely.
  • Manage stock of reagents and consumables, alerting senior staff to shortages.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • Registration: Enrolled with the relevant Medical Laboratory Council/Board.
  • Experience: Practical experience in a busy clinical lab is required.
  • Skills: Phlebotomy skills, attention to detail, knowledge of laboratory safety standards.

Nyuma ya Chuo cha Kiislamu (MUM), Morogoro, Tanzania.
