Job Summary:
To assist in the collection, processing, and analysis of laboratory samples to aid in diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collect blood, urine, stool, and other specimens from patients.
- Receive and sort laboratory samples, ensuring proper labeling.
- Perform routine laboratory tests (Hematology: CBC, Biochemistry: RBS, Serology: HIV/COVID, Parasitology: Malaria microscopy, Urinalysis).
- Prepare cultures and specimens for microbiological analysis.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment (e.g., centrifuges, microscopes, analyzers).
- Prepare reagents and stains required for daily work.
- Record test results accurately and communicate critical results to clinicians.
- Ensure the cleanliness and sterilization of laboratory glassware and surfaces.
- Manage laboratory waste (sharps, infectious waste) safely.
- Manage stock of reagents and consumables, alerting senior staff to shortages.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
- Registration: Enrolled with the relevant Medical Laboratory Council/Board.
- Experience: Practical experience in a busy clinical lab is required.
- Skills: Phlebotomy skills, attention to detail, knowledge of laboratory safety standards.

Nyuma ya Chuo cha Kiislamu (MUM), Morogoro, Tanzania.
