Job Summary:

To administer anaesthesia to patients undergoing surgical or diagnostic procedures and to monitor patients during surgery to ensure safety and stability.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Pre-operative assessment of patients to determine fitness for anaesthesia.
  • Prepare and test anaesthesia equipment (ventilators, monitors, suction).
  • Administer general, regional, or local anaesthesia as directed by the lead anaesthesiologist.
  • Monitor patient vital signs (heart rate, oxygen saturation, blood pressure) during surgery.
  • Maintain airway patency and administer oxygen/ventilation support.
  • Manage patients in the Recovery Room (Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit) until stable.
  • Record all anaesthetic observations clearly in patient files.
  • Ensure the safe handling and storage of anaesthetic drugs and controlled substances.
  • Respond to emergency calls for airway management and resuscitation.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education: Diploma in Anaesthesia / Clinical Medicine (Anaesthesia option).

Registration: Registered with the relevant Medical Council/Board.

Experience: 1-2 years of clinical anaesthesia experience.

Skills: Critical thinking, manual dexterity, ability to handle high-stress situations.

Nyuma ya Chuo cha Kiislamu (MUM), Morogoro, Tanzania.
