ROLE PURPOSE
The Accounts & Grants Assistant supports effective financial management at the Country Office by ensuring accurate financial recording, timely reconciliations, compliance with Plan International policies, donor regulations, and statutory requirements. The role contributes to strong internal controls, financial reporting, audit readiness, cash management, and data integrity to support efficient programme delivery and organizational accountability.
DIMENSION OF THE ROLE
Reports to Finance Manager – Input & Control.
Supports financial operations for the Country Office and contributes to the financial management of grants and donor-funded projects.
Maintains financial records, reconciliations, and supporting documentation in SAP and other financial reporting systems.
Works closely with Supply Chain, Programmes, People & Culture, Project Finance teams, and National Offices.
Supports compliance with Plan policies, donor regulations, tax laws, and other statutory requirements.
Contributes to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Supports audit preparedness and timely resolution of audit findings.
Maintains custody and accountability of petty cash, financial documents, and other sensitive financial instruments.
Supports financial data quality and reporting accuracy for management decision-making.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting, preferably within an NGO or donor-funded environment.
Skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Basic Power BI/reporting exposure is an added advantage
- Excellent communication skills appropriate to the audience
- Proficient Computer skills and use of relevant accounting packages
- Ability to work under harsh condition
- Ability to work under multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
- Good English language skills (oral /written)
