Job Summary
The Zonal PMTCT Officer will spearhead community triple elimination (HIV, Hepatitis, Syphilis) interventions among pregnant women, mother–baby pairs, and their partners. S/he will support the Zonal Coordinator to implement PMTCT interventions and help CSSC achieve its PMTCT goals in supported regions.
Main Roles and Responsibilities
- Support the Zonal Coordinator to roll out triple elimination interventions in all supported regions.
- Drive initiatives to increase identification and enrollment of pregnant/lactating mothers in HIV, Hepatitis, and Syphilis services.
- Work with district teams to roll out Mentor Mothers initiatives and increase identification and enrollment in care and treatment for HIV-positive pregnant/lactating women and their partners.
- Convene district-level meetings to establish Mother Mentor support groups and orient them to the Mother Mentor Guide for PMTCT implementation.
- Collaborate with CHMTs and RCHMTs to ensure all pregnant mothers are tested for HIV and that newly diagnosed women/adolescents are linked and retained in care and treatment.
- Ensure HIV testing services are routinely conducted at Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) clinics and other entry points for paediatric and adolescent clients.
- Work with CHMTs and RCHMTs to ensure timely tracking of missed appointments and loss to follow-up of mother–baby pairs and adolescent clients.
- Liaise with district stakeholders, the HIV Technical Advisor, and CSSC M&E Unit to ensure achievement of PMTCT targets.
- Plan joint supportive supervision and mentorship visits to facilities implementing case-based surveillance, in collaboration with CHMTs and R/CHMTs.
- With Technical Advisor, CHMTs and RCHMTs, ensure availability and dissemination of PMTCT guidelines, protocols, algorithms, job aids and other tools.
- In collaboration with CHMTs, RHMTs and the CSSC M&E Unit, ensure quality data collection, verification, timely submission, and entry into national systems (e.g., DHIS2).
- Supervise Mother Mentors on their routine service delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field, Sociology, Social Work, Community Development, or a related discipline from a recognised university/college (required).
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in public health, preferably in HIV, Hepatitis, and Syphilis prevention and treatment projects.
- Guidelines: Familiarity with relevant international and national guidelines and regulations for HIV, Hepatitis, and Syphilis programs.
- PMTCT Knowledge: Solid understanding of PMTCT guidelines and best practices.
- Technical: Understanding of HIV, Hepatitis, and Syphilis transmission and prevention methods.
- Context: Cultural sensitivity and understanding of the PMTCT implementation context.
- Systems: Familiarity with healthcare systems and service delivery in the target area.

Additional Information
- Anticipated Starting Date: 1st November 2025

- Duration: 1-year contract (renewable subject to performance and funding availability)
