Job Summary:
The Laboratory Scientist is responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and supervision of teaching and research laboratories. They ensure a safe, efficient, and well-equipped environment for practical instruction and scientific inquiry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare laboratory materials, specimens, chemicals, and equipment for scheduled student experiments.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
- Ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols and biohazard disposal regulations.
- Manage laboratory inventory, including ordering supplies and chemicals.
- Provide technical guidance and support to students and faculty during lab sessions.
- Assist in the development of new laboratory manuals and experimental procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and incidents.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) or higher in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Physics, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience working in a teaching or research laboratory.
- Certification in Laboratory Safety is a strong advantage.
- Practical skills in relevant scientific techniques and equipment operation.
- Meticulous, safety-conscious, and able to work independently
