Job Purpose
Responsible for syndication process for large corporate loans, managing relationships with various stakeholders, including internal teams, external lenders, and clients. This role involves structuring, negotiating, and executing syndication deals to optimize funding solutions for corporate clients.
Principle Responsibilities
- Appraise credit applications for loan syndications with other financiers.
- Manage the entire transaction cycle from deal origination, road shows, deal execution, documentation and follow-up actions after execution while maintaining networking relationship with other syndicate banks participating in the transaction.
- Evaluate and manage credit risk emanating from syndicate loans ensuring compliance with bank policies.
- Prepare plan and monitor implementation of the Business Strategy for Syndications Desk as part of the Bank’s Business strategy for Investment Banking.
- Review draft Project Information Memoranda, proposals, and financial presentations for the origination of new projects for co-financing and loan syndications.
- Utilize public databases and other resources to gather market information and compile reports and analysis of comparable transactions.
- Maintain databases of comparable transactions.
- Manage records and details of investors and client contacts.
- Produce reports detailing transaction progress and investor’s interest, or the reports as may be required from time to time.
- Plan, manage, and track details for bank meetings and events on syndicate loans.
- Providing structuring guidance to lending officers and actively participate in presenting proposals and mandate letters to clients, emphasizing the benefits of syndication and co-financing.
- Marketing the Bank’s loan syndication and co-financing as a product while establishing working relationships with the widest possible group of commercial co-financiers and syndicate lenders.
- Devising and implementing enhanced co-operation in syndication with commercial banks, DFIs, investment funds, or other risk participants, etc.
- Providing market pricing and risk appetite feedback to executive management for their consideration of all potential syndicate and co-financing facilities.
- Recommending improvements to the Credit Manual on loan syndications and co-financing guidelines.
- Support the development of risk mitigation products in loan syndications, including guarantees.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in corporate banking, syndication, or a related field, including at least 3 years in lending practices.
- Strong expertise in corporate finance, credit analysis, and risk management.
- Proven selling and negotiation skills, with excellent communication abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of products, services, and delivery channels available to corporate clients.
- Good understanding of competitive market structures, industry practices, and regulations in business banking, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the local market.
- High level of cultural awareness and adaptability.
