Role purpose:
To maintain the operational activities of the CS Core Network and Telco Infrastructure by controlling, managing, and supporting day-to-day operations. This role aims to ensure the highest possible network uptime, achieve KPI targets, operational excellence, and efficiency in operational processes and cost management. Additionally, it ensures end-to-end quality of experience for end users.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership
•CS Core Nodes Management: Oversee all technical aspects of the CS Core nodes throughout the radio transition period and beyond, including MSSs, MGWs, STPs, SBCs, TAS, CFX, and ENUM.
•Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including network engineering, operations, and support, to align technical strategies and ensure cohesive implementation.
•Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Continuously monitor the performance of the infrastructure and nodes, implementing improvements and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
•Compliance and Security: Ensure all systems and processes adhere to Vodacom policies, industry standards, and regulations while maintaining the highest levels of security and data integrity.
•Telco Cloud Infrastructure Management: Manage and monitor infrastructure resources; create, onboard and manage the life cycle of VNF/VM/CNF. Collaborate with application owners in resolving issues related to Infra and/or hypervisor
Core competencies, knowledge and experience
1.Technical Proficiency: Expertise in managing CS Core nodes (MSSs, MGWs, STPs, SBCs, TAS, CFX, ENUM) and Telco Cloud infrastructure.
2.Telecommunications Standards: Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including network security protocols
3.Strategic Thinking: Ability to align technical strategies with business objectives and plan for future technology trends.
4.Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership abilities to manage cross-functional teams and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively.
5.Problem-solving: Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues promptly.
6.Technical Support: More than 5 years of hands-on experience in managing and maintaining CS Core nodes and Telco Cloud infrastructure
7.Vendor Management: Experience working with multiple suppliers/vendors/partners
8.IP management: Proven experience in the IP environment
Must have technical/professional qualifications:
•University Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics Science, Computer Engineering, computer science or equivalent
•Certifications in IP-related fields CCNA, JNCA, and HCIA, are an added advantage
•Understanding of Cloud Infra architecture
•Proven knowledge in Unix/Linux
•Programing languages such as C/C++, Python etc.
