Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to drive the growth of assets, liabilities, and profitability within the Commercial Banking portfolio in the assigned region by acquiring new clients, delivering tailored financial solutions, and deepening existing client relationships.
The Relationship Manager will play a pivotal role in identifying market opportunities, acquiring new clients, and fostering long-term relationships with mid-sized businesses in the region. As a trusted advisor, the Relationship Manager will ensure exceptional client service, maximized wallet share, and compliance with the bank’s credit and risk policies.
This role requires a strong balance of business development, credit structuring, and portfolio management capabilities.

- Strong financial analysis and credit assessment skills.
- Deep understanding of commercial banking products (e.g., trade finance, working capital, term loans, deposits, cash management).

- Strong people management and teamwork abilities.
- High standards of integrity, professionalism, and client-centricity.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree or relevant professional qualification (e.g., CFA, ACCA, CPA) is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ proven experience in relationship management within the commercial or corporate banking segment.
- Proactively identify and engage prospective commercial banking clients in line with the bank’s business growth strategy.
- Develop and execute client acquisition strategies to expand the commercial banking client base within the assigned region.
- Achieve assigned targets related to portfolio growth, revenue generation, and product penetration.
- Promote and cross-sell the full range of commercial banking products and services — including lending, trade finance, deposits, and cash management — to meet diverse client needs.
- Manage the growth of well-priced assets and cost-effective, long-term liabilities by targeting reputable companies to maximize the bank’s profitability.
- Maintain and strengthen key customer relationships through regular visits, client calls, and business reviews.
- Implement an effective call program for both existing and prospective clients.
- Cultivate long-term partnerships with clients to position the bank as their preferred financial partner.
- Uphold professional standards while delivering customized financial solutions and ensuring competitive pricing.
- Maintain strong credit discipline by ensuring timely credit reviews, covenant monitoring, and proactive identification of early warning signals.
- Assess financial statements, prepare credit proposals, and evaluate risk profiles for commercial clients.
- Ensure strict adherence to the bank’s Risk Management, Compliance, and Internal Control policies and procedures.
- Stay up to date with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices to mitigate risks and prevent financial losses.
- Monitor portfolio performance and ensure alignment with profitability and quality objectives.
- Analyze client performance data, market trends, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and challenges.
- Provide periodic reports and recommendations to management regarding portfolio health, client satisfaction, and revenue growth.
