The Norwegian Embassy in Dar es Salaam, responsible for representing and promoting Norwegian interests in Tanzania, employs approximately 32 staff members. We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Property Manager, reporting to the Table of Contents Head of Administration. Job Opportunity Overview

    • Position: Property Manager
    • Employer: Norwegian Embassy in Dar es Salaam
    • Staff Size: Approximately 32 employees
    • Reporting To: Head of Administration

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the embassy’s properties to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Set strategic directions for maintenance and upkeep of the embassy building, residences, and equipment.
  • Coordinate with the Embassy and the Norwegian National Property Board for maintenance, repairs, and renovations.
  • Manage property budgets, expense tracking, and reporting.
  • Optimize procurement processes and vendor management.
  • Liaise with service providers to maintain consistent service supply.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations related to property management and embassy operations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for tenants, addressing concerns and fostering a positive living and working environment.
  • Implement and maintain security protocols to safeguard properties and occupants.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to uphold property standards and embassy expectations.
  • Provide support for IT-related matters at the Embassy.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Head of Administration.

Desired Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in property management, preferably in a diplomatic context.
  • Advanced mechanical skills and knowledge of plumbing, electricity, and other building systems.
  • Degree in engineering or equivalent qualifications.
  • Excellent IT knowledge.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in both English and Kiswahili.
  • Valid driving license (Class C) and ability to drive.
  • Demonstrated skills in time management, organization, and prioritization.
  • Commitment to providing excellent service and upholding the embassy’s reputation.
