Position Description

Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is seeking to recruit Plant Metallurgist to join and grow our team. This role is responsible to actively participate in the activities of the Metallurgy Team in the provision of technical support, to ensure optimum and cost-effective metallurgical performance in a safe working environment.

Reporting to: Senior Metallurgist

Duration: Permanent

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety and environmental standards that exceed worldwide industry standards and any applicable legislation. Develop and promote a Safe and Healthy Work Environment.
  • Ensure adherence to all Acacia mining policies and procedures.
  • Be proactive in ensuring Prime Product Protection.
  • Ensure the achievement optimum and cost effective metallurgical performance though active participation in the activities of the Metallurgy team, liaison with operations and maintenance, and contribution to the ongoing training and development of Process Operators.
  • Develop and maintain reporting procedures on production and cost by preparing daily, weekly and monthly reports as required.
  • Assist in providing technical input for project evaluations to help determine appropriate capital expenditure proposals and / or plant / process modifications.
  • Conduct and report, or provide technical input, on research and development projects for current and future process improvement.
  • Liaise with the Mining Department to exchange information for effective process planning and control.
  • Provide the technical input into the development of training packages, and ongoing training, mentoring and employee performance management, to develop and maintain a safe, competent and results orientated Metallurgical team, and to ensure that employees gain new skills and achieve their full potential.
  • Support of staff to achieve objectives on-time and on-budget, and take appropriate action to rectify any substandard performance or behavior.
  • Continually review every aspect of plant operation activities to ensure that opportunities to add value and enhance shareholder wealth are identified and implemented.
  • To carry out any other relevant duties as assigned by the Section Leader Process metallurgy or Process Plant Manager.
  • Assist in maintaining > 90% of the required stock levels in Plant consumables & reagents daily through SAP system

Qualification Requirements:

  • Degree in Mineral Processing Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.

Experience and Skills Requirements:

  • Process Plant Operation skills
  • Analysis and interpretation of data
  • Strong technical knowledge in metallurgy
  • Decisiveness
  • Resilience and resourcefulness
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Performance orientation
  • Safety conscious
  • Hold employees accountable
  • High level of interpersonal skills

  • Minimum of 5 years post graduate experience in gravity recovery, base metals flotation and gold production
