Position Overview
CNS Group Limited is seeking an experienced and dedicated Mechanical Engineer to oversee the installation and commissioning of all mechanical systems within a 20MW solar power project in Zanzibar.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality installation of racking systems, trackers, and other mechanical components — ensuring optimal system performance and project reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the installation of solar mounting structures, trackers, and module supports.
- Verify mechanical alignment, torqueing, and assembly tolerances to meet project specifications.
- Oversee lifting operations, rigging, and handling of mechanical equipment on-site.
- Ensure all mechanical systems are installed safely and efficiently in compliance with project and industry standards.
- Conduct quality inspections and verify mechanical completion of works.
- Collaborate closely with civil and electrical teams to ensure proper system integration.
- Identify and resolve mechanical issues encountered during installation, providing sound engineering solutions.
- Manage and maintain documentation, including as-built drawings, test reports, and commissioning records.
- Support final testing and handover of mechanical systems to the commissioning team.
- Promote safety awareness and compliance among mechanical installation teams.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in utility-scale solar or power plant mechanical works.
- Strong knowledge of structural mechanics, solar racking systems, and trackers.
- Excellent coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills.
