JOB DETAILS:

Job Purpose

To install, repair, replace, and maintain glass components in industrial buildings, processing plants, offices, and vehicle/mobile equipment cabs, ensuring safety, thermal efficiency, and structural integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Measure, cut, fit, and install glass panels for windows, doors, partitions, control room booths, and machinery enclosures.
• Repair or replace broken glazing in heavy equipment cabs (excavators, loaders, haul trucks) using specialized safety glass.
• Apply sealants, gaskets, weatherstripping, and glazing compounds to ensure watertight and dust-proof seals.
• Remove hazardous broken glass and dispose of according to safety protocols.
• Inspect and maintain glass handling tools, suction cups, and cutting equipment.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams for scheduled shutdown glass replacement.
• Recommend glass types (laminated, tempered, ballistic, fire-rated) per application.

Qualifications:

• Trade certificate in Glazing or 3+ years apprenticeship.
• Valid driver’s license (may require heavy vehicle access).

Experience:

• 4+ years in commercial or industrial glazing.
• Experience with heavy equipment windshield replacement.

Competencies:

• Precision measurement and cutting skills.
• Knowledge of safety standards (ANSI Z97.1, EN 12600).
• Physical ability to lift glass panels up to 40 kg.
