Job Purpose:

To perform maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on the company's fleet of vehicles (vans, trucks, pickups) in Zanzibar to ensure they are roadworthy, reliable, and available for distribution and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) services, repairs, and breakdown fixes on fleet vehicles.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using diagnostic tools.
  • Ensure all repairs are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed, parts used, and vehicle history.
  • Manage a small inventory of critical spare parts and tires.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspection reports.
  • Ensure workshop safety and cleanliness.
  • Coordinate with drivers to understand vehicle issues and provide feedback.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • VETA Grade I or equivalent qualification in Automotive Mechanics.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a mechanic, preferably with light/medium commercial vehicles.
  • Valid driving license.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and engine repair.
  • Honesty and integrity.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good time management skills.
