Job Summary
Ifakara Health Institute is seeking qualified ten (10) Field Interviewers who will be located in Dar es Salaam to support field-based data collection, quality assurance, and documentation processes under the supervision of senior researchers and consultants.
Responsibilities
- The Field Interviewer will be responsible for collecting, cleaning, and validating both quantitative and qualitative data according to established study protocols.
- They will ensure that data collection processes are of high quality, ethical, and adhere to IHI and national research standards.
- Participate in training sessions on study tools, electronic data collection (CAPI), and research ethics.
- Administer structured questionnaires to households, caregivers, and service providers.
- Conduct direct observations, data verification, and checks at health, community, and ECD centers.
- Ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of data collected using tablets or mobile devices.
- Support quality control checks, including revisits, validation, and spot checks.
- Collaborate with district and regional officials to coordinate field logistics and permissions.
- Report daily progress, field challenges, and data quality issues to the Field Coordinator.
- Ensure data confidentiality and adhere to all ethical procedures approved by NIMR and IHI-IRB.
Desired Skills
- Proficiency in using data collection software (e.g., SurveyCTO, KoboToolbox, ODK, or CSPro).
- Skills in Quantitative data management (collection and handling) and record keeping
- Familiarity with ethical principles of human subjects' research and confidentiality
- Capable of building and sustaining relationships with staff at all levels
- Demonstrated ability to work in rural settings and under minimal supervision
- Good skills in problem solving, teamwork.
- Professional attitude with highest level of integrity
Essential Qualification
Certificate in Sociology or Social Work or Science subjects, or any other related qualification from a recognized Institutions
Prefered Experience
At least 3 years' experience in field data collection or research implementation (preferably in health, nutrition, or ECD projects).
Prefered Language
Fluent in both English and Swahili Language
