Job Summary
Our company is seeking a skilled and highly responsible Driver to provide safe and efficient transportation services. The duties involve driving company vehicles to transport employees, equipment, and goods while adhering to road safety laws and company policies. The driver will also be responsible for ensuring the vehicle is in good condition and providing logistical support duties as required.
Key Responsibilities
1. Transportation of Personnel and Goods
- Safely transport company employees, guests, and equipment to designated locations while observing schedules and company procedures.
- Transport construction equipment, tools, and essential supplies to various project sites.
- Ensure goods are loaded and unloaded correctly and are properly secured to prevent damage during transit.
- Monitor safety regulations when transporting hazardous goods (if required).
2. Documentation and Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate records of all trips, including departure and arrival times, distance traveled, fuel consumption, and any incidents.
- Submit trip reports detailing the transportation carried out and any challenges encountered.
- Maintain records of vehicle maintenance improvements, service schedules, and repair history.
- Ensure compliance with company policies regarding documentation and transportation reports.
3. Vehicle Maintenance
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle (e.g., oil, water, tires, lights) to ensure it is roadworthy.
- Report any mechanical issues, accidents, or damage to the vehicle to the supervisor immediately.
- Ensure the vehicle is clean, refueled, and ready for use at all times.
- Schedule and take the vehicle for regular service and maintenance.
4. Safety and Compliance
- Strictly observe road safety laws, company rules, and international transportation standards.
- Ensure all passengers use seat belts and follow safety guidelines.
- Ensure the vehicle complies with environmental standards and emissions output.
- Wear required safety equipment (e.g., high-visibility vests and safety belts) while on duty.
- Maintain a clean driving record by employing defensive driving techniques and avoiding traffic offenses.
5. Handling Emergencies
- Take quick and appropriate action if the vehicle breaks down, is in an accident, or another emergency occurs.
- Provide first aid assistance and cooperate with emergency services if needed.
- Follow company emergency procedures for rescue or rapid transportation of medical emergencies.
6. Communication and Coordination
- Maintain good and professional communication with supervisors, the logistics team, and other employees regarding schedules and travel plans.
- Promptly report delays, road closures, or challenges affecting the journey.
- Assist in communicating with local authorities for security, road control, or special permits when required.
- Provide progress reports and follow instructions to enhance work efficiency.
7. Adherence to Environmental Standards
- Reduce environmental impact by using best practices in driving and reducing vehicle emissions.
- Follow company policies on waste disposal and environmentally friendly practices related to vehicles.
- Respect environmental safety protocols, especially when passing through ecologically sensitive areas.
Applicant Qualifications
- Licenses: Valid driving license (Class C, D & E).
- Education:
- Driving Certificate (from NIT or VETA).
- Defensive Driving Certificate (an added advantage).
- Experience:
- At least 3 years of experience driving commercial vehicles with a good record.
- Ability to withstand long-distance driving work.
- Technical Skills:
- Understanding of vehicle maintenance and the ability to perform minor adjustments/repairs.
- Understanding of safety procedures and best driving practices in a construction or industrial environment.
