Job Summary:
The Driver provides reliable and safe driving services to Lifewater International staff and other officials and mission members, meeting Lifewater International highest standards of discretion and integrity, sense of maturity and responsibility and excellent knowledge of protocol, and safety security issues. In addition, support the administrative function in fleet management duties.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Provide reliable and safe driving services and ensure safety of the passengers.
- Keep abreast of the traffic rules and regulations as well as road security awareness to enable safe, and on-time arrival for any movement including meetings and appointments.
- Maintain daily vehicle logs, inspections, daily kilometers, fuel consumption, oil change, servicing, greasing, repairs.
- Prepare and maintain data of the vehicle maintenance plan and reports, awareness of the vehicle servicing and required items for vehicle services.
- Ensure that the vehicle is always kept clean and good working order.
- Make minor repairs and recommendations for major repairs.
- Change oil, check tires, spare tires, jack, lights horn, clutch, and breaks.
- Ensure the vehicle always has sufficient fuel.
- Ensure all vehicle permits (insurance, road safety stickers, etc.) are available and up to date
- In the event of an accident, assures that medical emergency procedures are followed, written accident reports as required by delegate’s procedures and authorities.
- Assist the office staff in filing, photocopying, photo taking and maintaining the required records.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of a valid Tanzanian driving license with classifications C1, C2, and C3.
- Certification as an Advanced Driver Grade II from the National Institute of Transportation.
- Ordinary level Secondary Education Certificate.
- At least three (3) years of proven driving experience, preferably within a non-governmental organization (NGO) environment.
- Formal training in driving and basic vehicle maintenance, supported by relevant certification.
- Demonstrated clean driving record with no history of major traffic violations or accidents.
- Ability to communicate effectively, with basic proficiency in spoken and written English and general comprehension.
- Good knowledge of Shinyanga region where the duty station is located is an added advantage.
PERSONAL SKILLS AND QUALITIES:
- Excellent Driving skills.
- Good Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, local roads and conditions.
- Skills in minor vehicle repair.
- Ability to be on time.
- Ability to work after normal office hours.
- Respect Diversities with Good personal qualities.
