Purpose of the Role:
To provide students with a solid foundation in business principles, accounting, and commerce, equipping them with skills for entrepreneurship, further study, and employment in the business sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach Bookkeeping, Commerce, and Business Studies according to the NECTA syllabus for O-Level and A-Level.
Cover key topics such as:
- Principles of double-entry bookkeeping and preparation of financial statements (Trading, Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet).
- Elements of commerce: trade, aids to trade, banking, insurance, and transportation.
- Business management, marketing, and entrepreneurship.
- Economics fundamentals integrated into commerce topics.
Use real-world examples, case studies, and simple business simulations to make concepts relatable.
Prepare students thoroughly for theory and practical paper examinations.
Guide students in developing basic business plans and understanding the Tanzanian business environment.
Maintain accurate records of student grades, attendance, and assessment results.
Participate in departmental meetings and curriculum development.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration/Education, or a related field with a teaching qualification.
- Must be registered with the Tanzania Teachers Service Commission (TTSC).
- Proven experience teaching Bookkeeping and Commerce at the secondary level.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ATEC, NBAA) is a strong advantage.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to explain complex financial concepts in a clear and simple manner.
