To drive the growth, penetration, and profitability of Parastatal Schemes portfolio within Personal Banking.
Responsibilities or duties
- Develop and execute the Parastatals Schemes business strategy
- Own and deliver the overall business performance of the Parastatals portfolio, including SWL growth, deposits, customer acquisition, income, portfolio quality and profitability targets.
- Lead identification, prioritization and acquisition of high-potential parastatal institutions and provide oversight on negotiations and onboarding of new schemes.
- Drive deeper penetration of existing parastatal schemes
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with senior decision makers across parastatal institutions.
- Lead, coach and manage Relationship Managers Parastatals.
- Oversee sales-force productivity
- Monitor the overall quality and risk performance of the parastatal loan portfolio.
- Lead periodic portfolio and scheme performance reviews to identify underperformance, growth opportunities, competitive threats and required management interventions.
- Champion effective utilization of ESS and other relevant digital channels to improve SWL processing efficiency, customer experience, conversion and portfolio growth within parastatal schemes.
- Lead development and execution of differentiated value propositions, campaigns and engagement programs
- Monitor competitor activity, market developments and employer feedback within the parastatal segment and recommend appropriate products, pricing, process and service responses.
- Prepare and present periodic portfolio performance, strategic insights, key risks and recommended interventions to the Head of Personal Banking and relevant management forums
Qualifications or requirements
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong knowledge of retail banking, Salaried Workers Loans, employer-based lending and Personal Banking products.
- Strong understanding of parastatal institutions, payroll structures, scheme management and institutional relationship models.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with ability to coach teams, drive accountability and deliver results.
- Strong commercial and business development capability, with proven ability to identify, develop and convert growth opportunities.
- Excellent relationship management, negotiation and influencing skills, including engagement with senior decision makers.
- Strong portfolio management knowledge, including credit risk, arrears management, payroll deductions and asset quality monitoring.
- Good understanding of digital lending channels, ESS processes, MIS and data-driven performance management.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Banking, Finance, Economics, Marketing or related field
- Relevant professional certification in Banking, Credit, Sales, Relationship Management or Leadership will be an added advantage.
- Master's degree in business studies is an added advantage
Experience needed
- At least five (5) years' relevant experience in banking, financial services, relationship management, retail lending, portfolio management or business development, with at least 3 years' experience in managerial or leadership role, with responsibility for team performance and business results in medium to large organizations.
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex stakeholder relationships, preferably involving parastatal, government, corporate or large institutional clients.
- Experience in managing sales force productivity, portfolio quality, business performance and execution of strategic growth initiatives.
