Job Summary

Tumaini La Maisha (TLM) is seeking a qualified and passionate Senior Clinical Research Nutritionist (Pediatric Oncology) to join its team at Muhimbili National Hospital. The successful candidate will coordinate clinical nutrition research activities, provide specialized nutritional care for children with cancer, support research implementation, and contribute to improving pediatric oncology nutrition services.

History

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate IIPAN research activities at Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH).
  • Recruit eligible patients into research studies and support ethical approval processes.
  • Manage research data, study documentation, and regulatory records.
  • Provide comprehensive nutritional assessment, counseling, and care to children with cancer.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized nutrition supplementation plans.
  • Support nutrition initiatives within the pediatric oncology kitchen.
  • Supervise and mentor nutrition research staff and junior team members.
  • Organize and facilitate staff training on clinical nutrition and research methodologies.
  • Lead nutrition education initiatives for patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in IIPAN meetings, prepare reports, and contribute to project planning.
  • Ensure compliance with IIPAN Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ethical guidelines, and research protocols.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition from a recognized institution.
  • A Master's Degree in Nutrition or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical research.
  • Strong analytical, scientific writing, and communication skills.
  • Advanced clinical skills in nutritional assessment, intervention, and patient management.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English.

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
