SUMMARY
General responsibilities for the SHEQ Officer include coordinating and monitoring the implementation of the Company's SOPs and policies. Upholding Safety and Compliance of the workplace. Maintaining UpToDate Compliance Documentations and Trainings for the employees. Ensuring the Company and its stakeholders, employees and Contractors comply with legal and statutory requirements.
SHEQ Officer shall participate in the investigation of all SHEQ-related incidents and accidents and shall be responsible for scheduling training, audits, inspections and conducting periodic supplier evaluations.
SHEQ officer owns company SOPs execution and supervises all MANCOM departments in ensuring existence of updates SOPs, Execution of the approved SOPs and tracking records and documentation of the execution for audit purposes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge Requirements:
- Advanced Diploma/ degree in Occupational Health & Safety
- Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety
- Certificate IV in Occupational Health & Safety
- Qualified Risk Management
- Qualified Auditor / Auditing experience
- Qualified Investigator / Incidence investigation and reporting
Work experience: Minimum 3 years' experience in Factory based. Production or manufacturing sites performing SHEQ activities. Experience in Garments & PPE safety will be added advantage. Strong knowledge of safety standards, buyer requirements, PPE Standards, Compliance Requirements, ISO Requirements, Good communication and reporting skills.
Language and Computer Skills Fluent in English and Kiswahili, Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, ERP systems
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensuring statutory/regulatory requirements are complied. e.g. TBS, OSHA, WCF, FIRE, NEMC, GCLA, TDMA and Local Government authorities.
- Supervise audit schedule for SHEQ Management Systems to be in compliant with ISO 45001:2018, ISO9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 standards.
- Ensuring and coordinating OSHA annual medical checkups for employee's fitness.
- Ensuring and coordinating the creation of SHEQ Committee and ensuring that are effectively operating and functioning as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 2003.
- Compilation and maintenance of SHEQ company records, files and other related files for various activities.
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessment for the company operations that covers all processes for all departments.
- Ensure the workplace is free from all kinds of OHS incidents through proper worker engagements, intensified inductions and training.
- Develop, Enforce and Track operationalization of all company SOPs and ensure they are always Dated.
- Conduct periodic Inspection of incoming PPES and Raw Materials materials and ensure COA / COC for various products or materials are provided, certificate of origin and conformity is also shared.
- Ensure quality of final products is maintained and adherence to as per sample approved by client and meets local and international standards.
- Evaluate customer satisfaction periodically to ensure consistency on services that are offered by the Company.
- Supervise cleaning and sanitation activities throughout the company. Ensure the factory and its warehouse is free from pest infestation.
- Ensures Personal Hygiene standards are adhered to among all staff. Coordinate and supervise disposal of affected products, by products and any other material that include damaged or expired items.
- Ensure all employees are provided with PPE and are in full dress code as agreed by the company. This also should take into consideration any health-related alerts such as COVID 19 control measures.
- Conduct incident investigation, develop root cause analysis and prepare corrective action plans to prevent recurrence and enhance continuous improvement. Take action / implement corrective measures to improve the findings.
- Ensure regular emergency response exercises and drills are conducted as planned and with the highest level of preparedness in any emergency situation with consideration of various groups of the available workforce. Maintain records of such drills, providing recommendations for emergency response improvements.
- Your Job description shall also take into account other responsibilities as shall be assigned by your immediate supervisor and/or your manager or other group senior leaders. This role will open avenue for learnings and growth.
