Background

Emerging Health Initiatives (EHI) is a non-profit international organization headquartered in the United States with a growing network of collaborators and partners in Tanzania, Kenya and the United States. The organization is dedicated to improving access to quality, affordable, and compassionate healthcare services, particularly for underserved rural communities.

EHI works to strengthen healthcare delivery systems through direct service provision, community outreach programs, health education, and partnerships with local stakeholders. The organization is committed to supporting equitable access to healthcare while promoting sustainable and community-centered solutions to health challenges.

As part of its mission, EHI is establishing a new Polyclinic in Kamachumu, Muleba District, Kagera Region. The facility will provide comprehensive primary healthcare services, maternal and child health services, pharmacy services, laboratory and radiology services, preventive healthcare, and community health programs aimed at improving health outcomes within Muleba District and surrounding communities.

To support the successful launch and operation of the clinic, EHI invites qualified, motivated, and compassionate healthcare professionals to apply for the following position.

Position summary

The Registered Nurse will support delivery of high quality nursing services, maternal and child health services, preventive care, and community-based healthcare programs.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care according to professional standards.
  • Deliver ANC, RCH, Family Planning, and Immunization services.
  • Conduct patient assessment, triage, and monitoring.
  • Administer medications and treatments.
  • Perform wound dressing and emergency nursing procedures.
  • Maintain patient records and service registers.
  • Prepare government reports and service statistics.
  • Participate in outreach activities and health education programs.
  • Support implementation of infection prevention and control standards.

Minimum qualifications

  • Diploma/EN in Nursing.
  • Registration with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • Valid practicing license.
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant clinical experience.

Required experience

  • ANC services.
  • Reproductive and Child Health (RCH).
  • Family Planning services.
  • Immunization services.
  • Government reporting systems.
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

Added advantages

  • Experience conducting outreach programs.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff.
  • Knowledge of digital health technologies.
  • Social media communication and content creation skills.

Required competencies

  • Excellent patient care skills.
  • Compassionate and respectful approach.
  • Strong communication and counseling abilities.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Probation period

  • Six (6) months.

Expected start date

  • To be communicated to successful candidates.

Working schedule

  • Staff will work according to duty rosters approved by management and may be required to work on weekends, public holidays, and emergency shifts as operational needs dictate.

Salary

  • According to EHI salary scale and benefit package.

Language requirements

  • Fluency in Kiswahili is mandatory.
  • Working knowledge of English is required.
