Job Purpose:
The Project Officer – Youth Engagement will develop and manage programs that empower young people (aged 15-24) to become active citizens and decision-makers. This role involves designing youth-led initiatives, civic engagement activities, and skills-building workshops that increase youth participation in governance and economic life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Youth Mobilization: Develop and implement strategies to engage diverse youth groups, including those from marginalized backgrounds, in project activities.
- Capacity Building: Coordinate the delivery of leadership, advocacy, and vocational training workshops for youth.
- Youth Governance: Establish and mentor Youth Advisory Committees or Youth Clubs to ensure that youth voices are heard in local government and community planning.
- Innovation: Design youth-led initiatives and small-scale grants to support young entrepreneurs and social innovators.
- Advocacy: Support youth in advocating for their rights and needs with local authorities and decision-makers.
- Monitoring: Track participation metrics and changes in youth confidence and leadership skills through pre/post-tests.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Development Studies, Political Science, or a related field.
- Experience: 2-3 years of experience working on youth programs, with a strong understanding of positive youth development principles.
- Skills: Experience in facilitation, mentoring, and designing training curricula. Knowledge of digital engagement platforms is a plus.
- Competencies: Excellent interpersonal skills, energetic, and ability to act as a role model for young people.
