Mwanga Hakika Bank Limited (MHB) is a fully fledged commercial bank 100% owned by local Tanzanians. We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our dynamic and growing team in the following open vacancy.
Purpose of the Role
The Project Officer will support the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of strategic and operational projects across the bank. The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, while complying with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Responsibilities or duties
Project Coordination & Execution
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and executing bank projects across various departments (IT, Operations, Digital Banking, Retail/Corporate Banking, Compliance, etc.).
- Develop and maintain project documentation including project charters, plans, issue logs, risk registers, and progress reports.
- Track project milestones, deliverables, and timelines to ensure activities remain on schedule.
- Coordinate meetings, prepare minutes, and follow up on action points.
Stakeholder Management
- Serve as a liaison between business units, vendors, and technical teams to ensure smooth communication and timely delivery.
- Follow up with stakeholders to ensure assigned tasks are completed according to agreed timelines.
- Support business units in gathering and defining user requirements.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Prepare weekly and monthly project status reports for senior management and the Project Steering Committee.
- Monitor project risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating them where necessary.
- Track project budgets and resource utilization.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure that all project activities comply with internal bank policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management standards.
- Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) by coordinating test sessions, documenting results, and managing defect logs.
- Participate in post-implementation reviews to measure project performance and identify lessons learned.
- Support pilot testing and ensure all pre-launch requirements are completed.
Vendor & Partner Coordination
- Assist in evaluating vendors and monitoring third-party performance against SLAs.
- Coordinate procurement documentation for project-related purchases.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Bachelors degree in business, IT, Project Management, Finance, or a related field.
- Understanding of banking processes, digital banking solutions, regulatory frameworks, and financial products.
- Practical knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
Experience needed
- 2–4 years of experience in project management or banking operations (experience in a banking/fintech environment is an added advantage).
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Professional certifications such as CAPM, PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile training are an added advantage.
