Background

Stanbic Bank Tanzania is seeking a dedicated and results-oriented Officer, Recoveries to support the effective management of asset recovery and debt collection processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, managing repossessed assets, coordinating recovery activities, and supporting the bank’s efforts to minimize credit losses while maintaining operational efficiency.

This position requires a professional with strong knowledge of credit control, debt recovery, asset repossession, and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with the Credit Agreements Act and all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the documentation, processing, registration, and insurance of repossessed assets.
  • Coordinate the auctioning and disposal of movable assets to maximize recovery value.
  • Monitor and manage vendor performance in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of repossessed assets and recovery activities.
  • Drive cost-efficient asset recovery, repossession, and disposal processes.
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, controls, and operational standards.
  • Liaise with auctioneers, legal representatives, vendors, and other external stakeholders.
  • Support legal recovery and collections processes where necessary.
  • Monitor recovery cases and ensure timely execution of recovery actions.
  • Prepare and submit recovery performance reports and management information.
  • Track repossessed stock and ensure proper inventory management.
  • Resolve issues and disputes arising during the recovery and auction processes.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the recoveries function.
  • Maintain high standards of compliance, governance, and risk management.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to achieve recovery targets and business objectives.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Banking, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–4 years of relevant experience in operations, credit control, collections, or recoveries.
  • Strong knowledge of credit control and debt collection procedures.
  • Experience in asset recovery, repossession, and disposal processes.
  • Understanding of legal collections and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of auction processes and management of repossessed assets.
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Strong conflict resolution and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
