The Nurse Anesthetist is a specialized nurse responsible for administering anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical, obstetric, or diagnostic procedures. This role requires advanced clinical judgment in perioperative care.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-operative Assessment: Evaluate patients before surgery to determine the appropriate anesthetic plan.

Administration: Administer general, regional (spinal/epidural), and monitored anesthesia care.

Monitoring: Continuously monitor patient vital signs, oxygenation, and fluid balance during surgery.

Airway Management: Manage patient airways, including intubation and ventilation.

Emergencies: Recognize and respond to anesthesia complications (e.g., cardiac arrest, allergic reactions).

Post-operative: Oversee patient recovery from anesthesia in the PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit).

Consent: Obtain informed consent for anesthesia procedures.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN).

Postgraduate Diploma or Master's in Nurse Anesthesia.

Valid practicing license with an additional anesthesia endorsement.

Skills:

Advanced pharmacology knowledge.

High-level critical thinking and manual dexterity.

Ability to remain calm during emergencies.

b. Be registered with the relevant professional council or regulatory authority (where applicable).

c. Hold a valid practicing license (where applicable).

d. Hold a valid NIDA.

e. Demonstrate good communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
