JOB DETAILS:
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAD) leads international efforts to alleviate hunger, eliminate poverty and achieve food and nutrition security for all. At present. FAO is supporting a number of interventions related to Agriculture (crop, Livestock, Fisheries Bl Forestry) development. FAO also facilitate the implementation of voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security (VGGT). This will be done in collaboration with Ministry of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development (MLHHSDJ, the Land Officer will facilitate project implementation and ensure effective liaison and cooperation between the Government and key stakeholders, among other duties.

General description of Tasks and responsibilities:

The National Consultant

  • Land officer will undertake the following duties:
  • Implement day-to-day project activities in close collaboration with MLHHSD and PO-RALG including carrying out a situation analysis on tenure of land, fisheries and forests in Tanzania:
  • Develop training package on alternative dispute resolution methods for land conflicts, and supporting the Government in preparing policy guidelines aimed at reducing land-related conflict:
  • Develop training tools and materials and facilitate workshops/seminars on land tenure to create understanding among implementation partners at all levels:
  • Collect and analyses relevant technical, social, economic. Environmental, institutional and technology related information, data and/or statistics to support project delivery, products and services;
  • Contribute to monitoring of progress against agreed outcomes and outputs through joint field missions. discussions with key partner institutions and periodic reports:
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of relevant reports in close collaboration and consultation with relevant stakeholders:
  • Participate in and assist in field assessment missions and review the reports after the missions:
  • Represent FAO in meetings, prepare reports and make recommendations for follow up actions:
  • Carry out any other tasks related to the implementation of project.-‘programme activities.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  • Advanced University degree preferably in land administration. land management or related field
  • At least Five years of working experience in land administration, management or related field
  • Proficiency in English language.

Nationals of United Republic of Tanzania.

  • Experience with land tenure systems:

Duty station: Dodoma. Tanzania Duration: 12 months
Remuneration: The UN service contract salary level of SB-5
