Job Purpose

The Medical Doctor will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to patients at Ilasi Hospital, including diagnosis, treatment, emergency care, disease prevention, and follow-up. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with nurses, laboratory personnel, medical attendants, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct patient consultations, clinical examinations, diagnosis, and treatment.
• Provide appropriate medical care for both outpatient and inpatient cases.
• Attend to medical emergencies and initiate appropriate management.
• Request, interpret, and act upon relevant laboratory and diagnostic investigations.
• Prescribe medicines and treatments in accordance with approved clinical guidelines.
• Monitor patients' progress and provide appropriate follow-up care.
• Maintain accurate and complete medical records and clinical documentation.
• Participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings, and other hospital activities.
• Provide health education and counselling to patients and their families.
• Refer patients requiring specialized care to appropriate facilities.
• Promote infection prevention, patient safety, and quality improvement practices.
• Work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
• Perform any other duties relevant to the position as assigned by the hospital management.

Qualifications and Experience

• Holder of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Must be registered and licensed to practice medicine by the relevant professional regulatory authority in Tanzania.
• Previous clinical experience will be an added advantage.
• Good communication, interpersonal, clinical, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
