Background

Our client, a reputable Microfinance Institution, is seeking to recruit an experienced, self-motivated, and results-oriented Loan Officer to join its growing team.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying prospective borrowers, assessing loan applications, managing client relationships, and ensuring a healthy loan portfolio through effective monitoring and loan recovery.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Loan Officer in a Microfinance Institution, Bank, SACCOS, or other Financial Institution.
• Proven experience in loan origination, appraisal, disbursement, portfolio management, and loan recovery.
• Strong knowledge of lending principles, credit analysis, and risk assessment. Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer relationship management skills.
• Ability to work independently, meet targets, and perform field-based assignments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.

• Identify and recruit new clients for the institution's loan products.
• Promote and market the institution's financial products and services.
• Conduct client interviews, business assessments, and field appraisals.
• Evaluate loan applications and prepare recommendations for approval.
• Ensure all loan documentation is complete and accepted before disbursement.
• Monitor loan utilization and conduct regular client follow-up visits.
• Manage loan collections and recovery activities to minimize portfolio at risk.
• Maintain accurate client records and prepare regular portfolio reports.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients while delivering excellent customer service.
• Achieve monthly loan disbursement, collection, and recovery targets.
• Ensure compliance with the institution's lending policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
