The Laboratory Technician role is central to ensuring product quality and process efficiency throughout the cement manufacturing cycle. It involves monitoring and controlling quality at every stage—from raw material extraction to final packing—through systematic laboratory testing, analysis, and reporting to support operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Monitor quality control activities across the entire cement manufacturing process, from mining to the packing plant
- Ensure accurate sample collection, testing, analysis, interpretation, and timely communication of results
- Maintain laboratory methods and procedures for chemical and physical testing in line with established standards
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to support process optimization and continuous improvement
- Oversee shift laboratory operations and guide shift personnel in daily activities
- Communicate laboratory findings and quality observations to the Laboratory Superintendent and Quality & Process Manager
- Support maintenance and improvement of laboratory procedures, testing equipment, and reporting systems
- Ensure adherence to OSHA requirements, company policies, laboratory standards, and compliance guidelines
Qualifications required
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Laboratory Technology, or a related field
- Knowledge of chemistry principles and laboratory testing procedures
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a cement manufacturing environment
- Computer literacy and ability to handle data recording and reporting
- Strong understanding of quality control systems and laboratory standards
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements and workplace safety practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills
- High attention to detail and technical competence
- Ability to work in a team and demonstrate accountability
- Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards
