CUAMM in collaboration with National Institute for Medical Research

  • Muhimbili Centre, Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development (AIGHD) is looking for a full time qualified Tanzanian to fill the post of TB logistics officer who will work 100% in a project aiming at Improving TB case detection expected to start soon.

CUAMM wishes to advertise the following post which is required to be filled with highly motivated and competent Tanzanian logistics officer on contract basis for a period of one year.

Position: LOGISTICS OFFICER
Reports to: TB COORDINATOR
Duty station: SHINYANGA
Contract duration: One (1) year.

OVERALL GOAL OF THE JOB
The overall objective of the Dost is to ensure the proper maintenance of the goods procured for the TB REACH project and utilized for the project activities; recording of inventories and stocks; procurement of supplies and equipment; coordination of the supplies delivery to the project sites; data entry or management duties as required; coordination and management of the technical aspects of the activities according to the timetable agreed with the TB coordinator.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE;

  • To find and visit suppliers, select and evaluate them;
  • To process specific purchase orders according to CUAMM procurement procedures and establish contacts with suppliers (ex. motorbikes, helmets, laptop and related IT equipment, outreach equipment like table, chairs, staff personal protective equipment, stationary including regular registers and IEC material print out);
  • To negotiate purchase conditions and purchase all specific goods and services as specified in the requests;
  • To order items in timely manner as requested by staff and approved by the TB Coordinator;
  • To follow-up the procurement process until goods are delivered by the supplier;
  • To ensure maintaining of suppliers’ and items’ databases;
  • To manage stores ensuring security and maintenance, and making sure that stocks are kept in proper storage conditions;
  • To keep an updated inventory of all CUAMM permanent properties (offices, Stores, houses) of the locations of TB REACH project;
  • To be responsible for the maintenance of the equipment utilized during the project activities including motorbikes;
  • To ensure proper legal documentation (including registration and insurance) and consumption documentation for the vehicles utilized by the project
  • To be sure the documents for vehicles, license, insurance, etc. are up to date
  • To monitor and supervise the logbook of the project vehicles and report to the
  • TB Coordinator in case of any abnormal finding
  • To facilitate the project staff in the process of acquiring and renewing driving license
  • To ensure regular service and extraordinary maintenance of the project vehicles, including personally following the project vehicles when taken to the garage 
  • Supervise and train staff on vehicles use and consumption and safety rules; Coordinate the technical aspects of the activities according to the timetable agreed with TB coordinator and T&T Project Administrator
  • To manage a Projects Petty Cash required for the implementation of the TB REACH activities;
  • To keep proper documentation of the expenses of the TB REACH project, according to CUAMM and donor specific procedures;
  • To support the TB Coordinator in maintaining the Office Files (Correspondences, Project records);
  • To assist the TB Coordinator in the preparation of meetings (room and catering arrangements, projection, movements, payment of allowances);
  • To assist the TB Coordinator in the preparation and implementation of trainings (room and catering arrangements, projection, movements, payment of allowances, procurement of stationary and documents)
  • To assist the TB coordinator and TB screening staff in the data management of the project, as assigned by the TB coordinator
  • To ensure regular and proper back up of the TB REACH Project database
  • To support other projects or coordination offices when need arises and always after discussion with the TB coordinator;
  • Other duty as assigned by the supervisor(s).

Required Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Desired skills

  • Minimum of Diploma in material management, procurement, logistics or related fields certified by relevant professional body (e.g. Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board) with at least minimum of one year of experience from working in health logistic context. 
  • (Volunteering) experience in an international NGO is an added advantage. 
  • Experience in supply chain management in procurement, transport and distribution, warehouse and stock management. 
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in a multi-tasked team environment and to work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Demonstrated ability to handle working relationships with senior officials and technical experts in Government and NGOs. 
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English. 
  • Strong quantitative and organizational skills 
  • Proficient in computer application and database management.
  • Valid driving license

Compensation

  • A competitive stipend will be offered as per Government of Tanzania Regulations.
