Job Purpose

The Junior Safari Guide will be responsible for providing professional guiding services, ensuring guest safety, sharing knowledge about Tanzania’s wildlife and culture, and supporting smooth safari operations.

The successful candidate should have strong knowledge of wildlife, excellent communication skills, and the ability to create engaging experiences for guests.

Key Responsibilities

Safari Guiding and Guest Experience

  • Lead engaging game drives and bush walks.
  • Provide informative explanations about wildlife, flora, fauna, geology, birds, and Tanzanian culture.
  • Share knowledge about ecosystems, conservation, and national park regulations.
  • Deliver memorable and educational experiences for guests.
  • Ensure guests receive professional and friendly service throughout their safari.

Guest Safety and Park Compliance

  • Maintain guest safety at all times.
  • Follow all national park rules and safety procedures.
  • Monitor guest behavior, especially when guiding families with young children.
  • Handle sensitive situations professionally and with discretion.

Vehicle and Safari Operations

  • Conduct regular vehicle inspections to ensure vehicles remain in good working condition.
  • Monitor vehicle performance and report maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate fuel records, mileage logbooks, and maintenance schedules.
  • Work closely with Safari Operations and workshop teams.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with Senior Guides and learn from their experience.
  • Participate actively in team briefings.
  • Coordinate with camp staff to meet guest requests and expectations.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal teams.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Safari Guide in the hospitality or tourism industry.
  • Active guiding license or registration from the relevant authority.
  • Clean Class C driving licence.
  • Qualification in Wildlife Management from an accredited higher learning institution.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Wildlife and ecosystems.
    • Safari practices.
    • Tanzania National Park rules and regulations.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge with a certificate from a recognized institution.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • High level of physical fitness.
  • Ability to manage guests and challenging situations professionally.
