Job Purpose:

To anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control workplace environmental factors (chemical, physical, biological, ergonomic) that may affect the health and well-being of employees. To ensure compliance with occupational hygiene standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular monitoring for airborne contaminants (dust, gases, vapors), noise, heat stress, and illumination.
• Calibrate and maintain monitoring equipment.
• Manage the site's respiratory protection program, including fit-testing.
• Conduct exposure assessments and recommend control measures (engineering, administrative, PPE).
• Maintain accurate records of monitoring data, exposure assessments, and medical surveillance.
• Investigate health-related concerns and incidents.
• Develop and deliver training on hygiene-related topics (e.g., silicosis prevention, hazardous materials).
• Stay current with relevant occupational health legislation and best practices.
• Liaise with the Clinical Officer and external medical service providers.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, or a related science field.
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or similar accreditation is a significant advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of industrial hygiene experience, preferably in mining, oil & gas, or heavy industry.
• Proficient in using monitoring equipment and interpreting results.
• Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
