The Zanzibar Revenue Authority (ZRA) is a government institution established under the Zanzibar Revenue Authority Act No. 11 of 2022, responsible for the collection of government revenue from domestic sources and the promotion of tax compliance across Zanzibar. To strengthen its human resource management functions and support organizational efficiency, ZRA is inviting qualified Zanzibari citizens to apply for the position of Human Resources Officer on a temporary employment basis for twelve months in Unguja.
Responsibilities or duties
The Human Resources Officer will support the administration of human resource functions, including employee records management, payroll administration, staff welfare, training coordination, and personnel reporting. The role requires individuals with strong organizational skills, knowledge of labor regulations, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while supporting workforce management activities.
Qualifications or requirements
- Must be a Zanzibari citizen
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Public Administration, or a related field from a recognized institution
- Must be 30 years of age or below
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency in office applications
- Knowledge of Human Resource Management principles and practices
- Understanding of Labour Laws and Public Service Regulations
- Ability to prepare personnel reports, statistics, and administrative statements
- Strong organizational and record management skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- High level of integrity, honesty, and ethical conduct
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and organizational information
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a professional office environment
Experience needed
Temporary employment basis for twelve months
- Assist in collecting, compiling, and analyzing employee data and personnel information
- Maintain and update staff records and human resource databases
- Record monthly salaries, allowances, deductions, and related payroll information in the Payroll Register
- Monitor salary adjustments and ensure timely updates within the payroll system
- Assist in the preparation and administration of employee benefits and entitlements
- Prepare gratuity and pension payment documentation for retiring employees in a timely manner
- Support the management of employee attendance records and leave administration
- Maintain accurate personnel files and employment records
- Coordinate staff training, capacity-building, and development activities
- Assist in implementing human resource policies and procedures
- Prepare periodic human resource reports, statistics, and workforce information summaries
- Support human resource planning and administrative activities
- Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of employee information
- Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors
