The Housekeeper / Room Attendant plays a vital role in creating this experience by ensuring every room and guest area is prepared to the highest standards of cleanliness, comfort, and presentation. Through attention to detail, professionalism, and pride in their work, the successful candidate helps create memorable stays that reflect Enkare's commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Room Preparation & Guest Experience
- Prepare guest rooms in accordance with Enkare's housekeeping standards and room preparation checklist.
- Ensure each room is fully prepared before guest arrival, including lighting, room ambience, cultural décor, amenities, and welcome touches.
- Perform evening turndown service for occupied rooms.
- Place welcome notes, gifts, and amenities according to established standards.
- Replenish guest supplies, including toiletries, beverages, stationery, and other room amenities.
- Respect guest privacy and handle personal belongings with the highest level of care and discretion.
Housekeeping Operations
- Clean guest rooms, bathrooms, balconies, and surrounding areas to luxury hospitality standards.
- Change bed linen and towels according to company procedures while maintaining quality standards.
- Inspect rooms thoroughly before releasing them for guest occupancy.
- Report maintenance issues, damaged items, or safety concerns promptly.
- Maintain housekeeping equipment, cleaning supplies, and linen inventory.
- Follow all health, safety, hygiene, and environmental procedures.
Public Areas & Team Support
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation of reception areas, dining spaces, lounges, outdoor seating areas, and other public spaces.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth daily housekeeping operations.
- Participate in staff training and continuous professional development programmes.
- Support a positive, respectful, and professional working environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate in Housekeeping, Hospitality, or a related field is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in housekeeping within a hotel, lodge, guesthouse, or similar hospitality establishment.
- Good understanding of housekeeping procedures, cleaning techniques, and hygiene standards.
- Ability to follow structured cleaning schedules and quality checklists.
- Physically fit and able to perform housekeeping duties throughout a full shift.
- Basic spoken English to communicate effectively with guests and colleagues.
- Knowledge of Swahili is required; additional local languages are an advantage.
