Shimbi Royal Lodge in Korogwe, Tanga, is inviting applications from qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Hotel Manager. The lodge is looking for a motivated and customer-focused professional with strong leadership, communication, and hospitality management skills.
The successful candidate will oversee the daily operations of the lodge, restaurant, and bar while supervising staff, managing guest services, monitoring service standards, and supporting the financial and administrative operations of the business.
About the Role
The Hotel Manager will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of Shimbi Royal Lodge. The position requires someone who can lead staff effectively, maintain high standards of guest service, handle operational challenges, and ensure that guests have a positive experience.
The role also involves managing bookings, guest complaints, stock, purchases, cash records, and other administrative responsibilities. Previous experience in hotel or lodge management is required.
Responsibilities or duties
- Managing the daily operations of the lodge, restaurant, and bar.
- Supervising lodge staff and assigning daily duties.
- Preparing staff schedules and coordinating shifts.
- Training and supporting employees to improve service delivery.
- Handling guest bookings, check-ins, and check-outs.
- Responding to guest complaints and resolving service issues professionally.
- Maintaining hotel records and operational documentation.
- Maintaining accurate cash records.
- Preparing operational reports.
- Monitoring service standards across the lodge.
- Ensuring guest rooms and public areas meet required cleanliness standards.
- Monitoring guest satisfaction and addressing areas requiring improvement.
- Controlling stock and monitoring inventory levels.
- Managing purchases and ensuring efficient use of lodge resources.
- Supporting financial management and cost control.
- Ensuring smooth coordination between different departments.
Qualifications or requirements
Applicants should have:
- A Certificate or Diploma in Hotel Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in a hotel or lodge manager position, or in a supervisory position.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
- Good knowledge of hotel operations and staff supervision.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- A creative and attentive approach to work.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to handle basic hotel records, bookings, and administrative tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and Swahili.
- Basic understanding of hotel finances, cash handling, and reporting is an added advantage.
