Kijenge Animal Products Limited (KAPL) is seeking to hire Heavy Truck Drivers. The Heavy Truck Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of KAPL’s goods and products using vehicles with a load capacity of 10 to 30 tones. The Driver will operate in compliance with Tanzanian traffic laws and KAPL’s internal transport policies, maintaining vehicle safety and supporting the company’s logistics and distribution operations.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Safely operate heavy trucks with a load capacity of 10 to 30 tones for the transportation of KAPL products and raw materials.
  • Plan and follow approved routes to ensure timely delivery of goods to customers, distributors, and company sites.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any mechanical faults or defects to the supervisor promptly.
  • Ensure that all cargo is properly loaded, secured, and handled in accordance with safety standards before and during transit.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date trip records including delivery notes, fuel logs, and vehicle inspection reports.
  • Adhere to all Tanzanian traffic regulations, road safety requirements, and company transport policies at all times.
  • Coordinate with the logistics team on delivery schedules, route changes, and any transit issues or delays.
  • Maintain cleanliness, roadworthiness, and good condition of the assigned vehicle at all times.
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or road hazards encountered during operations immediately to the relevant authority.
  • Support the loading and offloading process as directed by the supervisor.

Education Requirements.

  • Ordinary Level Education (Form IV Certificate) as a minimum educational requirement.
  • Any additional certificate or training in transport, logistics, or a related field is an added advantage.
  • Valid Tanzania Driving License Class C, E, or equivalent authorizing the operation of heavy goods vehicles.

Experience needed

Experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience operating heavy trucks with a carriage capacity of 10 tones and above.
  • Experience in the transport of Agro-processing goods, manufacturing products, or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with long-distance and regional haulage routes within Tanzania and East Africa is desirable.

Knowledge & Skills.

  • Good understanding of Tanzanian traffic laws and road safety regulations.
  • Ability to perform basic vehicle checks and identify mechanical issues requiring professional attention.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills for completing trip and delivery records.
  • Good communication skills in Kiswahili; basic English is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of load securing practices and safe cargo handling.

Personal Attributes.

  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to meeting delivery schedules.
  • Honest and trustworthy in handling company vehicles, cargo, and documents.
  • Calm under pressure and able to make sound decisions during transit incidents or emergencies.
  • Physically fit and able to manage the demands of long-distance driving.
  • Respectful and professional in conduct when representing KAPL in the field.
  • Team player who communicates openly with the logistics and operations team.

Other Requirements.

  • Must possess a clean driving record with no serious traffic violations/ records.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including early morning starts and weekend assignments as required.
  • Must be physically able to support loading and offloading operations where necessary.
  • Must be willing to travel within Tanzania and on regional routes as assigned.
  • Possessing a valid international passport is an added advantage.
