Job Purpose

The successful candidate will support, create and drive measurable value through an active partnership at both management and operations levels to build safety capability, enhance compliance, and influence safety behaviour and culture. including to Support the overall business safety strategy and provide expertise to business unit to enable safety objectives.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, development and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and standards and business commitments
  • Leads engagements through the layers of the organisation to drive a commitment to safety performance
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
  • Work with managers/leaders to align safety practices with organisational goals and productivity needs
  • Provide safety training to employees and management on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and safety best practices.
  • Ensure contractor compliance to all applicable HSE regulatory and BU requirements
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, or near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Oversee the compliance roles involved in risk identification, management and systems compliance
  • Conduct workplace risk assessments to identify health hazards (e.g., noise, chemicals, ergonomics) to monitor the effects of workplace exposures. Implement ongoing surveillance programs to identify health risks.
  • Collaborate with medical teams to monitor trends in workplace illness/injury. Coordinate appropriate responses.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses making use of the relevant investigation tool which will be determined according to the severity of the matter
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of safety, establish safety goals, and monitor progress towards safety objectives.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health and safety regulations, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Prepare and submit safety reports, maintain safety records, and liaise with regulatory agencies on safety compliance matters.
  • Make use of safety and incident related analysis and insights to identify opportunities for risk mitigation and corrective action ultimately contributing towards improved safety and reduced risk
  • Support the ABF annual HSE reporting process, compile, co-ordinate and submit the reports as required
  • Promote and adhere to BU and Group procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to HSE, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC)

Job Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety, Risk Management, Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional certification in Occupational Health and Safety
  • 3 – 5 years safety management experience, with a strong understanding of health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and developing safety programs.

Terms of Service: The successful candidate will be engaged on a Permanent Contract.
