Job Overview
The HSE Officers will oversee health, safety, and environmental requirements during the construction phase of the Nyanzaga Gold Project. Successful candidates will support hazard mitigation, daily risk assessments, regulatory compliance, incident reporting, environmental monitoring, and the development of a strong safety culture among employees, contractors, and heavy-equipment operators.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily HSE inspections covering civil construction, steel erection, earthworks, and heavy-equipment operations.
- Ensure compliance with Tanzanian OSHA regulations, NEMC standards, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
- Issue stop-work orders where an activity presents immediate danger.
- Support Job Safety Analyses, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Manage permit-to-work requirements for working at heights, confined spaces, hot work, lifting operations, and excavations.
- Investigate accidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage.
- Maintain incident records and prepare monthly HSE compliance reports.
- Oversee waste management, hazardous chemicals, fuel-spill prevention, dust control, and noise suppression.
- Conduct site inductions, pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, and emergency-response drills.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or Higher Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Tanzanian NOSHC I and II certification.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- At least 1 to 2 years of practical HSE experience in heavy civil construction, mining infrastructure, or heavy engineering projects.
- Knowledge of Tanzanian labour, mining, and environmental laws.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.
