2.1 Job purpose
The General Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership, policy direction, and operational oversight across all functional areas of the company. He or she will lead KITL in achieving its business and investment objectives through sound management of processing operations, commercial ventures, and strategic investments that enhance value addition and market competitiveness in the cashew industry and other sectors.
2.2 Job description
- Provide strategic leadership and overall management of KITL operations and investments.
- Oversee and improve the efficiency of the business ventures to meet local and international quality standards.
- Develop, implement, and monitor corporate strategies, business plans, and performance targets to achieve company objectives.
- Lead investment planning, including project identification, appraisal, and management of capital investments in processing, warehousing, and value addition and other profitable ventures.
- Promote partnerships and joint ventures with public and private entities to expand KITL’s business portfolio.
- Identify and pursue viable business opportunities to increase KITL’s revenue streams and profitability.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, quality control standards, and environmental regulations.
- Coordinate the management of company assets, including factories, warehouses, business ventures, and recreation facilities.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of financial statements, annual budgets, and operational reports to the Board.
- Coordinate the review of company operations and its regulations and advise the Board of Directors on ways to improve performance.
- Coordinate and supervise all the major projects of the company.
- Perform any other duties as directed by the Board of Directors.
2.3 Entry qualifications
- Holder of a bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Agriculture, Economics, Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, Marketing, International Trade, Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Project Management, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
Note: A postgraduate or master’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Marketing, International Trade, Project Management, or other related fields will be an added advantage.
2.4 Experiences
- Minimum of eight (8) years of working experience, of which at least four (4) years must be in a senior management position in Agribusiness, Processing Industry, Investment, or Corporate Management.
- The candidate should have experience in leading industrial or investment projects and knowledge of agricultural value chains and export trade.

- Applicant must be a citizen of Tanzania aged between 35 and 45 years.
